Priyanka Gandhi Officially Joins Wayanad Bypoll, Begins with a Mega Roadshow

On Wednesday, October 23rd 2024, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra submitted her nomination for the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election. Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, MP, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, her husband Robert Vadra, and other party leaders from the national and state levels were with Ms. Vadra.

Priyanka led the roadshow with a massive crowd from the new bus stop at Kalpetta with her brother, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, after arriving in the hill district on Tuesday night with her mother, Congress Parliamentary party chairperson Sonia Gandhi. Along with other senior party and Indian Union Muslim League leaders, Priyanka appeared during the roadshow in the open-roof vehicle with her husband, Robert Vadra, and one of their children. Kishori Lal Sharma, an Amethi MP, was also in the car with them.

Priyanka went to the district collectorate and handed her documents to District Collector and Returning Officer D R Meghashree following a massive roadshow in Kalpetta. While mother Sonia Gandhi and party general secretary K C Venugopal watched on as she signed the papers. Rahul, her brother and Mallikarjun Kharge, the national president of the Congress, stayed by her side. Robert Vadra, Priyanka’s husband, and his son Rehan waited outside the collector’s chamber.

Rahul Gandhi took his Social Media after Priyanka signed the papers and shared the inside pictures. He even mentioned that Wayanad is Priyankas’s family, “Priyanka has always been someone who would sacrifice anything for her family and friends, and this quality will make her an exceptional MP for Wayanad. To her, the people of Wayanad are family. As her brother, I ask you to support and protect her as you have done for me.”

Rahul Gandhi even told the people of Wayand that Priyanka will be the strongest voice for them, “Wayanad, I know Priyanka will be your strongest voice.”

Additionally Rahul Gandhi showed his unparalleled dedication to the people by writing, “I will always stand by Wayanad as your unofficial MP.” He also took this day to pay a tribute to the people who died in Wayanad’s tragic landslide. He wrote, “Amidst all the love and warmth Wayanad is showing Priyanka and me, we take a moment to pay tribute to the lives we lost during the tragic landslides. You will forever remain in our hearts, and your families are part of our own.”

For the first time Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka are campaigning together in Kerala. Sathyan Mokeri of the LDF and Navya Haridas of the BJP will be Priyanka’s opponents. Voting in Wayanad for the Lok Sabha by-election will be held on November 13.

People in Kerala have always been supportive towards congress and also they are very sure that Priyanka will win this time. A daily worker named Abdurrahman from Nilambur in Malappuram said that he had no doubts that Priyanka would win. Also Abbas, who came to participate in the roadshow and owns a restaurant called Pulpally in Wayanad said that there is no question that Priyanka will win.
