Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the Pradhan Mantri Sangrahalaya, the museum dedicated to the 14 former prime ministers of India. He also bought the first ticket to enter the museum.
The museum has a technologically-advanced display of the life and contributions of India’s first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru. The museum has been developed to create awareness about 14 former leaders of the country. It recognises the contributions of all the prime ministers of the country. The museum tells the story of how India’s former prime ministers helped during the freedom movement. The ticket costs Rs 100 if bought online and Rs 110 if bought in offline mode.
A video was shared by the news agency ANI, where PM Modi was seen paying for the ticket. He was also seen enjoying the various audio-visual displays available in the museum. With this, he became the first official visitor to the museum.
According to a press release by the Prime Minister’s office, “The Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya is a tribute to every Prime Minister of India since Independence, irrespective of their ideology or tenure in office.”
The building of the Rs 271-crore museum is inspired by the story of a rising India. A number of gifts received by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru from all over the world have been put on display in the renovated Block I of the Nehru Museum building. According to an official, “The sangrahalaya is a seamless blend of the old and the new and includes the erstwhile Nehru Museum building, designated as Block I, which has been completely updated now.” Reportedly, the total area of the building is 10,491 square metres. The museum is located in the national capital’s Teen Murti complex. The museum’s inauguration date also collided with the birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution.
