Police Arrests SFJ Operative for Pro-Khalistani Graffiti

Delhi Police’s special cell has arrested an individual associated with the banned group Sikhs For Justice (SFJ). This person is suspected of being involved in spray-painting slogans endorsing the Khalistani movement and the SFJ at several Metro stations in Delhi.

The incident took place on August 27. The person’s identity has not been revealed due to an ongoing operation. Another individual connected to the incident was also taken into custody on the same day.

The SFJ operative targeted the walls of multiple metro stations with messages that support Khalistan, which is a separatist movement seeking an independent Sikh state.

The graffiti included phrases like “Delhi Banega Khalistan” (Delhi will become Khalistan) and “Khalistan Zindabad” (Long live Khalistan). This act raised concerns about security, especially since it occurred just days before the G20 Summit scheduled in Delhi.

The SFJ, which is a group considered unlawful by authorities, posted videos on YouTube showcasing the defaced metro stations. These videos displayed the pro-Khalistani messages prominently painted on the walls.

The Delhi Metro police initiated legal action by filing a First Information Report (FIR) against the vandalism under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The case was subsequently handed over to the special cell for further investigation.

The police’s efforts were supported by CCTV footage from the metro stations, which helped in identifying the suspects responsible for the graffiti.

The SFJ released statements claiming responsibility for the act, expressing their opposition to violence and highlighting their grievances.

This incident wasn’t the first of its kind, as the SFJ had previously engaged in similar actions, including painting graffiti in various parts of Delhi earlier in the year.

The group had also released threatening messages directed at Indian diplomats and officials, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.

The SFJ accused them of being involved in the death of one of their members. The arrest of the SFJ operative is a step towards addressing these acts of defacement and intimidation.

Khalistani groups and supporters are constantly attempting to disrupt the peace, law & orders in the country. The administration has to take strict actions towards these activities to maintain peace and security for the citizens across the nation.
