PM Narendra Modi is moving towards strengthening his promise to the common Indian to provide them with a pucca house as he attended the virtual ‘grih pravesham’ (house-warming ceremony) of about 5.21 lakh beneficiaries of his scheme, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin. This was done for Madhya Pradesh at 12:30 pm today via a video conferencing session, keeping in mind the Covid-19 protocols.
Addressing the gathering virtually, he said his government gives top most priority to providing houses to the poor man in India. So far, 2.5 crore houses have been constructed under the PM Awas Yojna scheme in the country, including two crores in rural areas, PM Modi said.
Under the hashtag #SabkoAwazMP, PM Narendra Modi said that he has kept his promise. He also reiterated how under the ‘Nal-Jal’ scheme in the country, six crore families were provided pure water tap connections in their houses too.
While speaking over the virtual session, he didn’t mince his words as he said that indeed the houses were special, in the sense that they included amenities like gas connection under Ujjwala Yojna, LED bulb connection under Ujala Yojna, toilets under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, and water supply under the Har Ghar Jal Yojna.
Besides, over four crore fake ration cards have been cancelled since 2014 by the present government in the country to prevent theft of food grains worth crores meant for the poor, Mr. Modi added, reaffirming that, “We have the policy to ensure that even the last man in the queue gets the benefit of government schemes.” Taking one more step towards the Atma Nirbhar initiative, he has asked the people of the nation to take a vow to construct 75 ‘amrit sarovar‘ (ponds) in every district of the country over the next 12 months, as the nation marks 75 years of its independence.
