Today PM Modi is flying to Moscow, Russia for a 2-days visit. Indian Ambassador to Russia Vinay Kumar called this visit “very significant”.
This visit is in the eye of Ukraine and many other European nations too, because this is the very first visit by Indian PM to Russia after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Kremlin had called this operation a “special military operation”
While talking about the details of PM Modi’s visit to Russia Ambassador Vinay Kumar said two leaders will exchanges ideas and views to boost and strengthen bilateral ties. They will discuss regional issues and mutual interests.
Further, he said this visit is very significant as it is happening after 3 years of gaps. Usually, the tradition was of yearly visits and summits.
Modi is the third time PM of India and in this tenure, this is first visit to Russia.
Mr Vinay said that “Russia is now one of the very important sources of energy resources in India. Also, trade has expanded in other areas. So this visit becomes very important for the leaders to exchange views or all these developments in the bilateral relationship, but also other regional and international issues of mutual interest.”
Today Modi will reach Moscow in the late afternoon. He will attend a lunch with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Modi will meet the Indian community in Russia on Tuesday. After these all PM will lay a wreath at the Tomb of Unknown Soldier in the Kremlin and also take a visit to exhibition venue in Moscow.

The agenda of the meeting is not clear till now. When the media team contacted the envoy they said, “I am in no position to prejudge what two leaders will talk…..”
But they also hinted that the meeting is about the annual framework meetings, but it is bilateral. There are chances they will talk about global issues like war, apart from this they will exchange ideas to enhance trade, cooperation and ties between two nations.
The ties between India and Russia are strong, both are members of BRICS. India has not yet condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Though they talked about diplomacy. PM Modi’s last trip to Russia was in 2019.
