PM Modi Unveils ‘Bose Statue’ & Inaugurates ‘Kartavya Path’

PM Modi unveiled the 28-ft-tall statue of Subhash Chandra Bose, and also inaugurated the ‘Kartavya Path’, which connects Rashtrapati Bhavan & India Gate.

On Thursday, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s 28-foot-tall statue was inaugurated at India Gate by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The statue is a component of the Rs 13,450 crore Central Vista project of the Center, which also includes new ministry buildings, a new Parliament building, and new offices and residence buildings for the prime minister and vice president.

The secretariat buildings that surround Rashtrapati Bhavan, North and South Blocks, will be transformed into museums.

Unveil of Subhash Chandra Bose Statue

India honored ‘Netaji’ by giving a space that was formerly occupied by a marble statue of British monarch King George V in the iconic canopy of India Gate, where a huge statue of freedom hero Subhas Chandra Bose was inaugurated on Thursday.

Since the king’s monument was taken down in 1968, the canopy, which is supported by 4 columns of the Delhi Order designed by Edwin Lutyens, has been left empty.

Launch of ‘Kartavya Path’

The road from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate, formerly known as Rajpath, was officially named Kartavya Path by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

After opening the Kartavya Path, Modi referred to Kingsway or Rajpath as a “symbol of enslavement” that had been relegated to the past.

PM Modi also referenced the king’s sculpture that had previously occupied the canopy.

Central Vista Avenue Project

According to sources, Modi also spoke with some of the workers engaged in the Central Vista avenue’s redevelopment and informed them that they would be invited to the Republic Day parade.

The prime minister also strolled by the gallery at India Gate that shows how Central Vista Avenue has changed over the past 90 years.

Among those present at the ceremony were Union ministers Hardeep Singh Puri, G Kishan Reddy, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Meenakshi Lekhi, and Kaushal Kishore.
