PM Modi To Address Lok Sabha Today At 4 PM, To Counter Opposition

The Indian Parliament’s Lok Sabha is currently engaged in a no-confidence motion debate, where the Opposition has put forward a motion challenging the ruling NDA (National Democratic Alliance) government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The debate revolves around issues of governance, policies, and recent events. The no-confidence motion debate allows members of the Parliament to express their concerns and opinions about the government’s performance.

The trigger for this motion includes concerns about the NDA government’s handling of issues like ethnic violence in Manipur, where clashes have resulted in numerous deaths.

The leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi from the Congress party, accused the NDA government of not effectively addressing the violence in Manipur and questioned their commitment to protecting the nation.

The debate also saw the Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, contrasting the economic performance of the previous UPA (United Progressive Alliance) government with the current NDA government.

She highlighted how the NDA government has delivered on promises and benefits for the people, as opposed to just making assurances like the UPA government.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to respond to the no-confidence motion later in the afternoon. The motion itself signifies the democratic process, as it allows the Opposition to hold the government accountable and raise their concerns in a public forum.

The outcome of the debate will determine whether the government retains the confidence of the Parliament or if further action, such as a vote of no-confidence, will follow.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman addressed the Lok Sabha, stating that the government believes in empowering all and appeasing none.

She highlighted the success of the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) program, stating that Rs 7.16 lakh crores were transferred through DBT in the last financial year.

Sitharaman also mentioned the increase in the number of AIIMS hospitals from 7 to 53 since 2014.
