PM Modi talks about Radicalization at SCO summit

As the Taliban took over Afghanistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit that growing extremism and radicalization are the greatest threat to world peace. PM Modi further called upon the issue that India’s concerns about regional instability, including China and Pakistan are widening and altogether they must work to ensure connectivity and trust is restored in such times.

Attending the summit on his 71st birthday, PM Modi added that The main reason for these challenges is the increasing radicalization. The recent events in Afghanistan have made the current situation even more clear. SCO needs to take proactive steps in this regard. A template must be created by SCO to fight radicalization and extremism in the middle-east.

He further added that every country in SCO including India has moderate, tolerant and inclusive organizations and traditions related to Islam. SCO must work to create a strong network between these organizations.

In a broader picture, India is also concerned about Pakistan using Afghan soil to prep terror groups Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed to foment trouble in Jammu and Kashmir. India is also clarifying that there is no secret that Pakistan has made terror an instrument of state policy.

Talking about geopolitics, Modi asserted that the landlocked countries of Central Asia can benefit enormously from the connection with the vast Indian market. All Member States must ensure that connectivity projects are not affected by the situation and continue respecting the sovereignty of each nation.
