PM Modi steps up planning to transform Ayodhya. Here’s what to expect

In a few years, Ayodhya will no longer be a regular Indian city or at least the current plans put forward by the Indian Prime Minister don’t project so. As per reports, a grand, illustrated plan was presented before PM Modi towards the end of last month and he surely is impressed by all of it to give it a go-ahead in one go.

The projects in the pipeline for the mega transformation of the city include big projects like creating a ‘Ramayan Spiritual Forest’ in such a way that the journey of Lord Rama spent in exile for 14 years can be illustrated through this. They are also planning to create a 65-km long Ring road around Ayodhya.

Ring roads are an essential part of city planning but unfortunately, all of the Indian cities have missed out on this during their early stages. A lot of traffic diversion is possible if only a ring road was created around the core city.

The planning also suggests a 1,200 acre Vedic Township which will include state and foreign country Bhavan’s. People aware of Delhi corridors can get an idea of it while visiting Chanakyapuri.

The planning committee responsible to come up with such structural planning said that they plan to make Ayodhya a leader in various aspects at global stages. “The dream is to make Ayodhya a foremost spiritual, religious and tourist city on the global stage, in line with Sanatan traditions and as a self-sustaining modern tourist place that strives for pollution-free, zero waste, water abundant city with healthy soil, water, and air.”

According to one of the Indian news websites, efforts towards making Ayodhya a combination of modern amenities with traditional or cultural touch are being made. The new planners will make people understand the significance of Vedas and develop infrastructure in that direction.

Ayodhya is of great historical significance for Indians. Hence, this time the efforts are being made to establish facilities that connect the history of the region and connect it to the present reality.

“Ateet ki Bhavyta, Vartman ki Avasyakta aur bhavishya ki taiyari,” is what is being preached by the developers. This essentially means restoring the past glory of the city. With the amalgamation of modern infrastructure and historical privileges, the idea here is to make Ayodhya the world’s first smart Vedic city.

Among the infrastructural development, the planning committee has one of the biggest tasks in hand which is to develop ‘Maryada Pushottam Sri Ram International Airport’, which will be catering to ease the travel of pilgrims both within and outside the country. They are also preparing for a world-class railway station, given the heavy dependence of Indians on railways for transportation.
