PM Modi's Controversial Statement on Mahatma Gandhi's Recognition Post-1982 Film
A video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has surfaced on social media, in which he is seen talking about the identity of President Mahatma Gandhi. This video is said to be from a news channel, in which Prime Minister Modi is giving an interview. In the video, Modi is saying, “Mahatma Gandhi was a very great soul in the world, wasn’t it our responsibility in 75 years that the whole world should know Mahatma Gandhi.”
Prime Minister Modi said, “No one knows Gandhi. For the first time when the film Gandhi (1982) was made, the world was curious as to who he was? We did not do this. It was the work of this country. The world knows Martin Luther King. The world knows Nelson Mandela of South India. Gandhi was no less than anyone and I have to admit, after traveling the world, I am saying that India should have got attention through Gandhi.”
After Modi’s remark on Mahatma Gandhi leaders of opposition became active even public also started sharing their opinion on media platform X.

Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted on his X. He showed his disappoined on PM Modi’s Remark.
Another tweet is shared by an journalist who showed his anger and disappointment on Modi’s statement.He expressed disappointment over the spread of lies, fake and false statements on WhatsApp.
Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinet also expressed her views by tweeting. She said it is unfortunate for India that Modi is the Prime Minister of India. He further wrote that India is known in the world because of Gandhi.
Currently, India is going through the general elections of 2024, and leaders of every political party are always looking for news against the opposition so that they can question them and gain some support among the voters.
