PM Modi On 3-Nations Tour For G7 Summit, Quad Meeting

PM Modi has embarked on a 3-nations visit for more than 40 engagements & key agenda. He will attend the G7 Summit, Quad Meeting & bilateral talks with Australia.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s six-day three-nation tour to Japan, Papua New Guinea, and Australia holds significant importance in terms of diplomatic engagements and addressing key global challenges.

The trip includes participation in three crucial multilateral summits, namely the G7, Quad, and the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC).

In the first leg of the trip, PM Modi will attend the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan. This provides an opportunity for him to engage with leaders from advanced economies and discuss important subjects such as food, fertilizers, energy security, climate change, resilient infrastructure, and development cooperation.

His bilateral meetings with Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio and other participating leaders will strengthen bilateral relations and explore areas of mutual interest.

The visit to Papua New Guinea for the FIPIC summit further demonstrates India’s commitment to fostering cooperation with Pacific Island countries.

PM Modi’s engagement with Prime Minister James Marape and other leaders will focus on enhancing collaboration in areas like trade, investment, climate change, and maritime security.

This visit is particularly significant as it marks the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Papua New Guinea.

The final leg of the trip takes PM Modi to Australia, where he will hold talks with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and address the diaspora.

Originally planned as the venue for the Quad summit, the meeting will now take place in Hiroshima due to the U.S. President Biden’s scheduling changes.

The Quad summit brings together leaders from India, Japan, the United States, and Australia to discuss Indo-Pacific developments and promote a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.

The trip highlights India’s active role in addressing global challenges and its growing recognition as a key player on the world stage.

By participating in these multilateral forums, PM Modi aims to exchange views, advance India’s vision for the Indo-Pacific, and contribute to resolving global issues related to peace, security, development, nuclear disarmament, economic resilience, climate change, energy security, and health.

The numerous engagements lined up for PM Modi during this trip emphasize India’s commitment to building strong diplomatic ties, fostering regional cooperation, and addressing pressing global concerns.

The 3-nations visit is an opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations, showcase India’s interests and concerns as a member of the global south, and further India’s agenda on the international stage.
