India’s Parliament has been shifted from the old Parliament building to the new Parliament building. What are the next plans with both of the buildings?
India’s Parliament has been shifted to the new Parliament building. Thus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has suggested a new name ‘Samvidhan Sadan’ to the old Parliament building.
The old Parliament building holds several historical importance, including the Constituent Assembly meeting, and creation of Indian Constitution.
He also highlighted several most important laws passed during his government’s tenure, like ‘triple talaq,’ transgenders’ rights, rights for specially-abled people, including the historic removal of Article 370.
Prime Minister Modi mentioned the importance of the old Parliament and the symbolism in the name of ‘Samvidhan Sadan.’ He mentioned that the building is the witness of all the laws, discussions and meetings. It sent the signals to inspire Indian aspirations.
The new name, “Samvidhan Sadan,” reflects the respect and honor for the Indian Constitution. He said that it’s not just an old structure but a place where the country shaped its destiny.
Prime Minister Modi urged all the political parties and members to prioritize the country’s growth over selfish political gains.
He recalled the advancements of India, specially in the sectors of innovation, science and technology. He emphasized the success of Chandrayaan-3 as an example of inspiring the youth.
PM Modi also inspired the lawmakers and all the citizens to make India the best manufacturing hub in the world. He referred to a “Zero Defect, Zero Effect” concept, which means that we have to make high quality products that don’t harm the environment.
The country should look beyond immediate issues and work in a way that we can make a developed and self-reliant country.

There will be no more parliamentary sessions in the old parliament building, but that doesn’t mean that it will be demolished. Instead, it will be used for other functional purposes.
The building will be conserved as an Indian archaeological asset of the country. However there is a strong possibility that it will be converted into a museum.
The new Parliament building is set to write a new chapter in the Amrit Kaal of Bharat. The new building has modern facilities and it’s designed to meet the increased requirement of the Indian Parliament.
The country hopes for a significant growth and a massive development with the transition of from the old to the new Parliament building, while the old building will be preserved as a symbol of India’s historical journey.
