PM Modi launched the largest vaccination against coronavirus today

The largest vaccination drive against coronavirus in the world has been launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 16. Under this vaccination drive, nearly three lakh healthcare workers are aimed to be vaccinated. 

On its first day, there are 3,006 vaccination sites installed all over the country. In the wake of growing cases in the country, PM Modi has asked people to not ignore the second vaccination shot and also assured that 30 crore people will be vaccinated by the end of second phase of vaccination. 

Among the guidelines that have been issued by the centre, not vaccinating people below age 18 is extremely important. Other than that, there are special guidelines when it comes to women. Lactating women or those who are pregnant are also advised not to receive vaccination. 

As of Saturday, 15,158 new coronavirus cases were registered in India. The total count has reached 1,05,42,841. In terms of recovery rate, India is stable and the projection shows that in coming months, the graph will stabilize further. 

A report suggested that in every vaccination site, early 100 participants will administer vaccine shots. PM Modi lauded the design of the vaccination campaign saying that it is designed as per the humane protocol. 

He added, “For so many months everyone has been asking when the vaccine (for COVID-19) will come and now it is here. Minutes from now, the world’s largest vaccination drive will begin. “Our doctors, nurses, paramedic and cleaning staff have the first claim to this vaccine.”

The Prime Minister also urged people to follow Covid-19 protocols even during receiving the vaccination. He also termed the vaccination programme a ‘massive exercise’ saying that never in the history of mankind, such a large scale of vaccination drive has been done.

Concluding his launch speech, the Prime Minister said that the vaccines have gone through proper testing and all the rumors surrounding it with regards to its safety and efficacy should be kept away. India has been providing vaccines to all over the world and people have shown their trust on these vaccines as they are affordable and also easier to use.
