French President Emmanuel Macron is set for a two-day visit to India, starting in Jaipur on January 25.
His trip begins with a tour of the famous Amber Fort, followed by visits to other iconic sites like Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will welcome French President Macron and join him in exploring Jaipur.
Macron’s visit includes interacting with local artisans and people involved in Indo-French cultural projects, and students. After touring Jaipur’s landmarks, both global leaders will discuss various topics at the Taj Rambagh Palace, a luxurious hotel in Jaipur.
This visit is special as Macron will be the chief guest at India’s 75th Republic Day celebrations in Delhi on January 26.
France and India have a long history of participation in this event, with Macron being the sixth French leader to attend. Additionally, French military forces will join the Republic Day parade, a sign of the strong ties between the two countries.
The discussions between Modi and Macron are expected to cover a wide range of topics, including defense, trade, clean energy, and educational exchanges.
A key focus will be on the proposed purchase of 26 Rafale-M fighter jets and three Scorpene submarines by India from France.
These deals are seen as crucial steps in strengthening the defense cooperation between the two nations.
Maritime cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region, along with global issues like the situation in the Red Sea, the Hamas-Israel conflict, and the Ukraine war, are also on the agenda. Both leaders aim to reinforce their strategic partnership and focus on international peace and security.

Another highlight of Macron’s visit is the emphasis on increasing opportunities for Indian students, artists, investors, and tourists in France.
France aims to host 30,000 Indian students by 2030, reflecting the deepening educational and cultural ties between the two countries.
President Macron’s visit is expected to further solidify the France-India strategic partnership and build on the comprehensive roadmap laid out by the two leaders during their meeting in Paris in July.
