Pakistan’s top separatist Syed Ali Shah Geelani died under house arrest in Srinagar

Marking an end of the era, Pakistan’s top separatist Syed Ali Shah Geelani, died in a bid to instigate the Kashmiri youth. He was the soul person who was responsible and was portrayed as the man who sacrificed most of his life in Indian jails for the right of Kashmiris to self-determination.

Disturbing peace in India, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan, and his ministerial colleagues posted in great lengths about the death of Geelani and also posted video clips on Twitter of his anti-India speeches in order to exploit the situation.

The Pakistan government’s official Twitter account mentioned Geelani as a Kashmiri Hurriyat leader who emerged as the face of resistance against Indian atrocities in Kashmir. Geelani was 91-year-old and died at his home in Srinagar, where he was under house arrest for the better part of the last decade.

Several people have described him as a metaphor for the struggle of Kashmir’s independence. The Malaysia Consultative Council of Islamic Organisations asserted on their official account that Geelani’s death is a great loss for the Kashmir cause.

Being a great inspiration for all Kashmiris, the officials from Islamic state salute his resoluteness to pursue the struggle for freedom and self-determination. He is regarded as the icon who showed great leadership and courage in establishing the Freedom group.

It should be noted that all roads connecting Kashmir remained closed. The Jammu-Srinagar national highway, which is the only road connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the country, has remained closed for the second day on Friday as a precautionary measure. Vehicles stranded on the highway were allowed to move to the destinations, however, traffic remained suspended on the highway and no vehicle was today allowed to leave Jammu or Srinagar.
