Over 275,000 Indians repatriated back to their homeland from the UAE

India had begun repatriation on May 7 and till now from the United Arab Emirates, over 275,000 Indians have flown back to their land. When the registration was opened, 500,000 people had registered online of which only less than a half remain.

The consulate general of India confirmed this news and said that most of the demand has been met and only few factors remain to be considered.

“In the last couple of weeks, the consulate called several people, but found that most of their demands have been met except in a few sectors. We feel there might be some people who are stuck and wish to go back to India, but they have been unable to do so due to lack of knowledge and means to get the tickets for their journey,” the consulate said in a statement posted on Twitter.

When the Vande Bharat mission was first announced, a lot of Indians had registered online in order to return back to India. Even now there are a lot of seats available on Air India and Air India Express flights operating as part of the repatriation mission from Dubai and Sharjah. The portal is available till August 15 in 90 such flights. Besides some special flights, the UAE and Indian carriers like Emirates, FluDubai, Indigo and Spicejet have also planned over 100 flights from Dubai, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah.

Apart from this, people whose visas have expired after March 1, should leave the UAE before the August 10 deadline to avoid fines. Even for those who are unable to book tickets, there is provision to contact consulate helplines. The consulate further notified announce cities to where the flights will be flown to which includes airports in Kerala, Delhi, Gaya, Varanasi, Amritsar, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Trichy, Chennai, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Mangalore and Lucknow.”
