Orleans Masters: Saina Nehwal, B Sai Praneeth Lead Indian Attack In France

Olympic medalist in the past Top Indian shuttlers Saina Nehwal and B. Sai Praneeth, a previous bronze medalist at the World Championships, will play at the Orleans Masters, a Super 300 level badminton competition, which begins on Tuesday at the Palais Des Sports in Orleans, France.

No Indian players are entering the competition as seeds as P.V. Sindhu, the runner-up at the Madrid Spain Masters last week, and the top doubles team Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty, who were seeded number one, withdrew.

7 in the world The 2016 Olympic gold medalist Carlona Marin is the top seed in women’s singles, and Japanese player Kenta Nishimoto is in first place in men’s singles.

In their respective first-round matches, world no. 31 Saina and no. 49 Sai Praneeth took on a qualifier.

Watch out for two all-Indian matches today, including Priyanshu Rajawat vs. a fellow Indian. Tanya Hemanth will take on Aakarshi Kashyap in the women’s singles opening round and Kiran George will take on him in the men’s singles. The other Indian ladies competing in the singles competition are Tasnim Mir and Ashmita Chaliha.

Sankar Muthusamy, the silver medalist from the World Junior Championships, will be the focus of attention among the young people. As a qualifier, Sankar faced off against Ade Resky Dwicahyo of Azerbaijan.

The 43rd-ranked player in the world in men’s singles, Mithun Manjunath, will face Danish player Victor Svendsen in the first round. The second Indian men’s singles expert who will be competing today is Sameer Verma, who is ranked 78th in the world.

The best chances for India in the men’s doubles are M.R. Arjun and Dhruv Kapila, who begin their campaign against Ondrej Kral and Adam Mendrek of the Czech Republic.

The seasoned Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto are eager to capitalize on a weaker women’s doubles field. Simran Singhi-Ritika Thaker, a young couple, and N. Sikki Reddy, who is collaborating with Arathi Sara Sunil, will also be hoping to leave their imprint.
