In a recent turn of events, the Opposition Protests Modi’s Remarks against Modi’s comments during his rallies in Rajasthan. The prime minister alleged that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had advocated that Muslims should have the first right to the country’s resources, sparking a political storm amid the election campaign.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge criticized Modi’s comments as “hate speech,” stating that they had “lowered the dignity of political discourse.” The Congress party complained to the Election Commission of India (ECI), seeking action against Modi. The complaint highlighted a part of Modi’s speech where he claimed that the Congress manifesto aimed to redistribute resources to Muslims, based on the alleged remarks of the Manmohan Singh government.
Kharge further commented, “Today Modi ji’s panic-filled speech showed that INDIA is winning in the first phase results. What Modi ji said is not only a hate speech but also a well-thought-out ploy to divert attention… The 140 crore people of the country are no longer going to fall prey to this lie. Our manifesto is for every Indian. It talks about equality for all. It talks about justice for all. The judiciary of the Congress is based on the foundation of truth, but it seems that the throne of the dictator in the form of Goebbels is now shaking.”
The ECI declined to comment on Modi’s speech, prompting criticism from Congress, which argued that the speech violated several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Model Code of Conduct. Opposition parties have intensified their protests against Modi’s remarks, accusing him of attempting to divert attention from real issues.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav criticized Modi for resorting to “politics of hatred” and urged him to focus on substantive issues affecting the people. Yadav emphasized the need for addressing poverty, inflation, unemployment, and the failing economy, which he described as the actual issues facing the country.

In reality, at the 52nd National Development Council meeting, former PM Manmohan Singh emphasized the need for development in various sectors, including agriculture, irrigation, water resources, health, and education, along with programs for the upliftment of minorities. Singh stated that minorities, particularly the Muslim minority, should be empowered to share equitably in the fruits of development and should have the first claim on resources.
In another development, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accused the Tihar jail administration of issuing a false and misleading statement about his diabetic condition under political pressure. Kejriwal alleged that he has been asking for insulin every day, contradicting the jail’s claim.
The controversy over Modi’s remarks in Rajasthan rallies has intensified as opposition parties accuse him of hate speech and political manipulation. The ECI’s response, along with the criticism from opposition leaders like Tejashwi Yadav, highlights the growing political tensions ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. Meanwhile, Kejriwal’s accusations against Tihar jail add another layer of complexity to the ongoing political drama.
