Odisha Train Accident: PM Modi Said Guilty Won’t Be Spared

There are more than 280 people killed and about 900 injured in the triple-train crash tragedy in Bahanaga Bazar station in Balasore district of Odisha.

On June 3, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Balasore in Odisha, a day after a major train accident occurred in the area.

The accident involved three trains: the Coromandel Express, the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, and a goods train.

The Coromandel Express, which was not supposed to stop at the Bahanaga Bazar station, collided with a stationary goods train at full speed, resulting in the derailment of 21 coaches, with three coaches infringing on the other line.

At the same time, the Yeshwantpur-Howrah Express was passing through the station and collided, causing two of its rear coaches to derail as well.

The tragic incident claimed the lives of at least 288 people, while around 900 individuals sustained injuries.

Upon visiting the site of the mishap, Prime Minister Modi expressed his deep sadness and offered his condolences to the families affected by the tragedy.

He assured them that the government would spare no effort in providing assistance to the injured passengers and their families.

PM Modi stressed the need for a comprehensive approach involving all government agencies to address the monumental tragedy.

The Prime Minister also made it clear that a thorough investigation into the incident would be conducted, with a focus on holding those responsible accountable for their actions.

He instructed the Cabinet Secretary and the Health Minister to ensure that all necessary support is provided to the injured and their families.

During his visit, PM Modi reviewed the ongoing rescue and relief operations and interacted with local authorities, personnel from disaster relief forces, and railway officials.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who had previously visited the accident site, accompanied him.

PM Modi emphasized the importance of taking special care to prevent any inconvenience to the bereaved families and to ensure that those affected continue to receive the assistance they require.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the state government, and the Indian Army were all involved in the rescue operations at the scene.

The Prime Minister’s visit and his strong response highlighted the seriousness of the incident and the government’s commitment to providing support to the victims and their families.

The investigation into the accident will aim to determine the causes and identify those responsible for the tragedy, with the assurance that they will face strict punishment.
