Odisha To Initiate Flights To Singapore, Bangkok & Dubai

The Odisha government has initiated multiple projects in its cabinet meeting including international flights, 4G connectivity to villages, MSME growth & water supply.

The Odisha Cabinet authorized the operation of direct flights to Dubai, Singapore, and Bangkok.

Tuesday’s cabinet meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, also authorized a plan to give land to BSNL so that it can build mobile towers to offer 4G connection to 1,792 villages.

According to Chief Secretary SC Mohapatra, IndiGo expressed interest in operating international flights from Bhubaneswar to Dubai, Singapore, and Bangkok as proposed by the state government.

“The cost of operating the 186-seater aircraft will be covered by the state government. The state government will keep the money earned from ticket sales,” he said.

According to Mohapatra, the state government will give BSNL 2,000 square feet of land at each of 1,687 locations for 30 years at a cost of Rs 1 per site each year, free of premiums and other costs.

According to him, it will assist in bringing 4G access to 1,792 communities.

The Odisha MSME Development Policy 2022, which seeks to hasten the expansion of businesses in the MSME sector, was also approved by the state cabinet.

The strategy has implemented a number of progressive steps to encourage the expansion of the MSME sector, which will result in the creation of jobs and boost the state’s GDP.

According to the programme, capital investment subsidies would be provided to both new and existing businesses.

The expansion of government grants-in-aid to qualified staff members of newly established assisted non-government high schools, upper primary (ME) schools, and madrasas was also approved by the cabinet.

About 26,164 both teaching and non-teaching staff members will profit from this. The annual financial impact will be Rs 280.48 crore.

For the purpose of implementing the “Empowerment of Women in Agriculture-Promotion of Entrepreneurship for women SHGs (Self-Help Groups),” the cabinet approved Rs 367.19 crore over a five-year period.

Additionally, Rs 1,142.24 billion was set aside for four years to develop potato, vegetable, and spice crops with the help of women’s SHGs and farmer producer organizations (FPOs).

A proposed plan for the execution of two enormous piped water supply projects for the Angul area under the Jal Jivan Mission was also accepted by the cabinet. 2.32 lakh people in 277 villages will benefit from it.
