Eight prominent themes will be discussed in the 8th NITI Aayog meeting today including Viksit Bharat@2047, thrust on MSMEs, Gati Shakti, social infrastructure & more.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to chair the eighth governing council meeting of Niti Aayog, which will focus on the theme “Viksit Bharat @2047: Role of Team India.”
However, several prominent opposition leaders, including Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal, Bhagwant Mann, Chandrashekar Rao, MK Stalin, and Nitish Kumar, have decided to skip the meeting. The meeting will take place at the new Convention Centre in Delhi’s Pragati Maidan.
The Niti Aayog has outlined eight prominent themes that will be discussed during the day-long meeting. These themes include:
This theme revolves around the vision of making India a developed nation by 2047, emphasizing long-term planning and sustainable development.
The meeting will deliberate on strategies and initiatives to promote and support Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), which play a crucial role in the country’s economic growth and employment generation.
Discussions will center around infrastructure development and attracting investments to bolster economic growth and improve connectivity across the country.
The meeting will focus on simplifying and streamlining regulatory compliance processes to enhance ease of doing business and encourage entrepreneurship.
Addressing gender disparities and promoting the empowerment of women will be a key theme, highlighting the importance of inclusive development and gender equality.
The meeting will deliberate on healthcare and nutrition-related issues, including strategies for improving healthcare infrastructure, ensuring access to quality healthcare services, and addressing malnutrition.
The importance of skill development in equipping the workforce with the necessary capabilities to meet future challenges will be discussed, aiming to enhance employability and bridge the skills gap.
Discussions will revolve around the Gati Shakti initiative, which focuses on improving logistics and connectivity to drive development in different regions of the country, along with addressing social infrastructure needs.
The governing council meeting will include the participation of chief ministers and lieutenant governors from all states and union territories, union ministers, as well as the vice chairman and members of Niti Aayog.
The absence of several opposition leaders at the meeting has been attributed to various reasons, such as concerns over the Delhi government’s control, farmer-related issues, and prior commitments. However, chief ministers from the Congress party are expected to be present at the meeting.
