On May 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s new Parliament House, which features several iconic symbols and monuments that reflect the country’s cultural heritage and civilizational roots.

1. Sacred Sengol

One notable feature is the installation of the sacred Sengol at the Lok Sabha House, next to the Speaker’s chair. 

As PM Modi entered the Lok Sabha amidst Vedic chants and the melodious tunes of ‘nadaswaram’, he held the Sengol, which symbolizes the path of service, duty, and nation. 

This act, captured in video and photographs, represents the rich cultural traditions of India and the respect for its heritage.

2. Akhand Bharat Map

Inside the new Parliament House, a dedicated display showcases ‘Akhand Bharat’ (Undivided India) in its true form. 

The display features an ancient sculpture, a stone with ancient scriptures, and an old map of Bharat (India) with regions labeled by their historic names, written in Devnagri script. 

It includes names like Kurukshetra, Hastinapur, Sindhu, Saurashtra, Chol, Kanchipuram, and more, reflecting the deep-rooted historical connections of these regions.

3. Samudra Manthan Sculpture

Another prominent aspect is the Samudra Manthan sculpture, crafted by Murtikar Naresh Kumawat, adorning one of the walls of the building. 

This sculpture depicts the historical story of churning the ocean, where Devtas (Gods) and Daanavs (Demons) united to extract Amrit (nectar) and other precious items. 

It serves as a powerful reminder of India’s historical narratives and showcases the artistic prowess of Kumawat.

4. Most Ideal Persons’ Portraits

Additionally, the portraits of prominent figures such as the great Chanakya Vishnugupt and great freedom fighter Veer Savarkar find their place among the pantheon of Indian leaders in the new Parliament building.
