Never Felt I Am Muslim And Different In India: Huma Qureshi

In a recent interview with Sudhir Chaudhury on the news TV channel Aaj Tak’s show ‘Seedi Baat,’ Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi shared her thoughts on religious polarization in India and her personal experiences as a Muslim.

PM Modi was recently asked about the rights of Muslims in India, by a Pakistani reporter. The PM responded that no one in India judged based on their caste or religion.

About this topic, Huma said, “Ye baatein ho kyu rahi hai?” (Why are we talking about this?)

She expressed that she has never felt discriminated against because of her religion in the film industry or in the country as a whole, as India respects and embraces every religion.

Huma Qureshi further mentioned her father’s successful restaurant, Saleem’s, located in the predominantly Hindu-populated area of Kailash Colony in Delhi.

The actress also recalled her childhood experiences, sharing that her mother used to dress her up as Krishna every year, but she wanted to perform as Radha instead.

Few years ago, Huma Qureshi had disclosed on social media that she doesn’t take everything in the Quran or Islam too seriously.

Huma Qureshi also discussed certain issues prevalent in Bollywood, such as nepotism, hate towards outsiders, and the other challenges faced by outsiders.

Nepotism is the practice of giving opportunities to people based on their family connections rather than their talent. Nepotism makes it difficult for people who are not from privileged backgrounds to succeed.

She said that this is not just a problem in Bollywood, but is also prevalent in other industries and societies around the world.

She also said that outsiders, or people who do not have family connections in the industry, often face challenges in getting jobs and opportunities.

Huma Qureshi will be seen in her latest film Tarla which is a biopic on the life of Tarla Dalal, a renowned Indian chef and cookbook author.

The film follows Tarla’s journey from a young housewife with a passion for cooking to a successful entrepreneur and household name.
