In a new development, Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment has entered a multi-year deal with popular streaming platform Netflix and the two together have already announced two new projects.
To remind you, Excel Entertainment, funded by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, is the same banner that is responsible for movies like Dil Chahta Hai’, Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara’ and ‘Raees’.
As per the current deal with Netflix, the two production units will be producing various projects and the first two once are two shows which are reportedly titled Dabba Cartel and Queen of the Hill.
xAs part of the deal, the team will produce various projects under its series banner Excel Media and Entertainment. It will commence with two shows, tentatively titled Dabba Cartel and Queen of the Hill. Dabba Cartel is an ambitious project of Akhtar himself and it is about five housewives who are having a huge secret while running a cartel.
The partners of Excel Entertainment rolled out an official statement saying, “Our partnership with Netflix marks a new global chapter for Excel Entertainment after 20 years in storytelling. We’re excited with the opportunity to create a variety of extraordinary stories to entertain people around the world.”
The vice president of the content department in Netflix India Monika Shergill also seemed very enthusiastic about the development. Shergill stressed that the production house has continually pushed boundaries in the entertainment field and they are delighted to collaborate with them for work.
