NEET UG 2024 Results: Allegations, Political Reactions and Calls for Reform
The NEET UG 2024 exam result has been engulfed in controversy, creating headlines across the nation. They have denied the claims of paper leaks as “completely baseless” and assured that all question papers were accounted for. The NTA also clarified that an incident in Rajasthan, where students forcibly took away question papers, is being falsely linked to the alleged leak. The Ministry of Education has set up a four member panel to review the grace marks awarded to over 1,500 candidates.
The Supreme Court of India addressed the controversy on June 10, hearing a plea from a group of students demanding the cancellation of the NEET UG 2024 exam and stay on the counseling process. The Court acknowledged the seriousness of the allegations, it decided not to pause the counseling process, accenting the need to maintain the sanctity of the examination while allowing students to continue with their admissions. The Court issued a notice to the NTA, demanding answers and transparency regarding the alleged paper leaks. “It’s not so simple that because you have done it, it’s sacrosanct. We need answers for that… The sanctity has been affected.” Justice Amanullah remarked.
The controversy has seen a surge of solidarity for the affected students on social media. Founder of Physics Wallah and educationist Alakh Pandey, extended his support to the aspirants, soliciting authorities to ensure transparency and fairness in the examination process. Social Media influencers like Abhishek Malhan, Elvish Yadav and others have also voiced their concerns and backed the students, amplifying their plight to a bigger audience.
