The Indian government has got its hands on the needle-free vaccine by Zydus Cadila. As per the recent update, the anti-Covid vaccine ZyCoV-D is now available in India after the government’s approval for its usage recently.
In an official statement, the company said, “The company has started the supplies of its Covid-19 vaccine ZyCoV-D to the government of India against their order from its newly commissioned.”
It also added that the vaccine is being manufactured at the Zydus Biotech Park in Changodar, Ahmedabad in a facility called Zydus Vaccine Technology Excellence Center. Now as it is already available in the country, the company is trying to launch the vaccine in the Indian market.
This vaccine is the first of its kind. It is the world’s first plasmid DNA vaccine, which is parted in three doses. A person will be inoculated painlessly as it is a needle-free system called Tropis. It will be administered on 0, day 28, and day 56.
As of now, the decided price for the vaccines is ₹265 per dose and that makes each dose for ₹93 excluding GST. The company also stated that it has signed an agreement with Shilpa Medicare Limited which will be responsible for producing doses of ZyCoV-D. Other than this, the company also has an agreement with Enzychem Lifescience, a South Korean company, which will also be looking after the manufacturing license as well as the technology transfer for the popular vaccine.
