The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) did a survey recently to assess the situation of Online Learning of school kids amid the Covid-19 pandemic crisis, says Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.
The NCERT led the study in the period of July with the assistance of guardians, teachers, students, and principals from Navodyaya Vidyalas, Kendriya Vidyalayas, and CBSE affiliated institutions.
According to the study, around 27 percent of students’ don’t have laptops, tablets, or desktops to attend online classes, while 28 percent of parents and students face a power disruption that hampers the ongoing online classes.
Additionally, the lack of knowledge on utilizing gadgets for effective teaching and educators not well equipped with online teaching techniques caused obstruction in the Online Classes. Generally, Mobiles were utilized for these classes in comparison to laptops among educators and principals.
To address the concerns related to the loss or gap in learning among students amid lockdowns, the NCERT has designed an “Elective Academic Calendar and Student’s Learning Enhancement Guidelines.
The activities specified in the calendar are linked to four dialects as branches of knowledge – Hindi, Urdu, English, and Sanskrit. It also gives space to the methodologies of decreasing pressure and anxiety in students, parents, and teachers.
