Last updated on November 1st, 2024 at 11:49 am

PM Narendra Modi addressed the nation from the Statue of Unity in Kewadiya, Gujarat on the occasion of National Unity Day. During his speech PM Modi highlighted the need for solidarity and he also called on people to identify and resist forces in India who is aiming to weaken the unity of India.

During the speech the Prime Minister said that while the world is divided, many countries are looking to India as an example of resilience. “We need to safeguard our unity as the world watches how we address our challenges”.

While not naming any specific opposition party PM Modi’s remarks pointed to the “INDIA” bloc and their recent push for a caste census, a key campaign for the opposition demanding better representation for backward classes. During the speech PM Modi warned about “urban Naxals.” These are groups, he said, that work against the nation’s interests. He believes they try to divide society and spread distrust.

“The discriminatory policies and intent of previous governments weakened national unity. Over the past 10 years, the new governance model has eliminated discrimination. We have chosen the path of sabka saath sabka vikas. This approach has ended the dissatisfaction among people and enhanced their trust in development schemes,” the Prime Minister said as noted by NDTV.

The Prime Minister highlighted initiatives of BJP Government  like “one nation, one tax” through GST, Ayushman Bharat for health coverage, and the removal of Article 370, which ended the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, as moves to strengthen unity. He emphasized the importance of unity for economic growth, social harmony, and justice, urging everyone to move forward together to achieve these goals.
