Narendra Modi Is The Boss: Australia PM At Big Sydney Event

The Australian PM praised Indian PM Modi for his popularity & leadership at a big event in Sydney. He also emphasized the bilateral relationship of India-Australia.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese praised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a community event in Sydney, comparing his popularity to that of rockstar Bruce Springsteen. 

Albanese referred to Modi as “The Boss,” drawing a grin from Modi and applause from the crowd. 

Albanese highlighted the significance of the bilateral meeting between the two leaders, noting that it would be their sixth meeting in a year, emphasizing the importance of the Australia-India relationship. 

He acknowledged India’s growing economy, status as the world’s most populous country, and its strategic position as an important neighbor in the Indian Ocean. 

Albanese also recognized the contributions of the Indian diaspora to Australia, describing India as a key strategic partner and expressing appreciation for the strong friendship and sporting rivalry, particularly in cricket, between the two nations. 

He warmly welcomed Modi’s visit, highlighting the dynamic and growing region they both belonged to.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a special community event in Sydney, Australia, expressing his gratitude for the warm welcome and highlighting the connections between India and Australia. 

He referred to his previous visit in 2014 when he promised the Indian diaspora that they would not have to wait for 28 years for an Indian Prime Minister to visit again. 

Modi emphasized the various ways in which India and Australia are connected, including through yoga, cricket, tennis, films, and even culinary experiences like Masterchef. 

The event, organized by the Indian Australian Diaspora Foundation (IADF), attracted a crowd of more than 20,000 people and commenced with cultural performances. 

Modi’s visit garnered support from his followers, who arranged special buses from Brisbane and Canberra. Additionally, he mentioned his upcoming bilateral meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, there is a significant Indian diaspora in Australia, comprising 2.8% of the population, with 592,000 people born in India.
