The Mumbai Police have finally recorded progress in investigating the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique as they arrested five suspects for helping the shooters. The total number of apprehended suspects from the two attacks stands at nine with three main suspects still being on the loose. The police disclosed that the group arrested recently had wanted ₹50 lakh for the murder but failed to go through with the plan because of disputes over the money and the influence the intended victim had.
The five arrested people have been named as Nitin Gautam Sapre, Sambhaji Kisan Pardhi, Pradeep Dattu Thombre, Chetan Dilip Pardhi, and Ram Fulchand Kanoujia. Police also said that these suspects are from different parts of the MMR including Dombivli, Ambernath and Panvel etc. Although they abandoned the first plot to kill the President, they are said to have supplied weapons and other support to the people who executed the deed.

In the interrogations the police came to know that the module spearheaded by Sapre had at first demanded ₹50 lakh from a mediator, to get Baba Siddique eliminated. However, disputes arising from the contract and payment made forced them to step out of direct implementation of the plan. This is an ongoing investigation by the crime branch in order to catch the other three important accused persons and to know more about the conspiracy behind the murder.
