Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway’s 1st Phase To Inaugurate On 15th Aug

The first phase of the construction of the 701 km long Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway has been completed. It is likely to be inaugurated on 15th August, this very year.

The ‘Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway’ will link Mumbai and Nagpur. The Director General and Managing Director of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) – Radheshyam Mopalwar, discusses the construction & inauguration of this project.

His initiative to improve traffic arrangements on roads leading up to Mumbai, as well as the impending infrastructure projects that have the potential to completely reshape Maharashtra.

What Is Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway?

The ‘Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway’ is also known as ‘Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg’.

It is a 701 km long access-controlled expressway in Maharashtra. Currently it’s in an under-construction position with the 1st phase likely to be inaugurated on this Independence Day.

Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway Inauguration

The project’s first phase, which covers a distance of 480 kilometers from Shirdi to Nagpur, is finished. As stated by the honorable chief minister, we expect to open it on August 15. 

“We are awaiting official word in this regard. The project can be inaugurated right now, and the honorable PM will do so. 

We’ve actually been prepared since June 5. The necessary infrastructure is already set up.

Ambulance services have been set up, and everything is prepared, including toll booths and gas outlets. By May of next year, we want to have finished the entire 700 km route.”

Toll Tax On Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway

According to a formula provided in the Maharashtra government’s 2008 notification, a cost of Rs 1.72 per kilometer will be paid. 

In fact, the current NH-3 toll from Mumbai to Nashik is higher than the highway toll for the same route. 

Although the route is intended for speeds of up to 150 km/h, the official speed limit is 120 km/h.
