Mumbai Indians Defeats Royal Challengers Bangalore By 9 Wickets

MI vs RCB, WPL 2023: Mumbai Indians beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 9 wickets. Hayley Matthews and Nat Sciver-Brunt performed very well.

In tonight’s Women’s Premier League match against Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore were shut out for 155 runs.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, RCB got off to a fast start with the opening partnership of captain Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine, who combined for 39 runs in just 4.2 overs before the latter was caught by Saika Ishaque for a 16-ball 11.

Later, Kanika Ahuja (22 off 13), Shreyanka Patil (23 off 15), and Megan Schutt made impactful cameos for the RCB (20 off 14).

On this excellent batting pitch earlier in the game, the Mumbai spinners held the Bangalore side to a modest total after being chosen to bowl first. Bangalore batted well in the opening 10 overs, but they lost their way in the middle and lost 5 wickets.

The batters in the lower middle of the order formed useful little partnerships and displayed some talent. With the bat, Shreyanka Patil and Kanika Ahuja both displayed some promise.

The side reached over 150 thanks to some helpful lower order runs from Megan Schutt. Hayley Matthews played exceptionally well, taking 3 wickets in addition to her 77* batting score.

Amelia Kerr and Saika Ishaque both contributed a couple of wickets to the team’s overall effort.

Mumbai defeated Bangalore with more than 30 balls remaining and a huge margin of victory of 9 wickets. Yastika Bhatia and Hayley Matthews got Mumbai off to a strong start in their chase of 156, adding 45 runs in just 5 overs.

Yastika left for 23 after getting off to a strong start. Together, Hayley Matthews (77* off 38) and Natalie Sciver (55* off 29 balls), two international stars, stitched an unbroken 114-run stand for the 2nd wicket in less than 10 overs.

Their second straight big win means that their gross run rate is out of this world, and they destroyed the Banglore bowling all over the park while entertaining the crowd.
