Mulayam Singh Yadav, leader of the Samajwadi Party and a former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, has died at the age of 82.

He passed away at the Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, Haryana, where he had been a patient for a few days.

According to reports, Mulayam Singh Yadav was taken to the Medanta hospital in Gurugram with respiratory issues and later moved to the intensive care unit due to his precarious health. Later, he was given medications to keep him alive.

The Medanta Hospital stated in a health bulletin on Sunday, “Today, Mulayam Singh Yadav ji is on life-saving medication and his condition is quite severe. He is receiving care from a large group of medical professionals at the ICU of Medanta Hospital in Gurugram.”

The Yadav family received support last week from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who both inquired about the SP chief’s health and wished him a swift recovery.

According to sources, Mulayam Singh had been experiencing a number of illnesses over the last few months and had already been hospitalized once this year.
