Mohammed Siraj was once again subjected to ill-treatment, Virat Kohli was visibly upset after the act

There needs to be a spirit with which you enter a playground. Whether it is the players of the two nations or fans, once a match is done and dusted, there seems to be no reason for the two parties to have bad blood between each other. But when things don’t go as planned in this regard, it hampers the spirit of the game.

During the ongoing third Test between India and England at Lord’s, some of the people in the crowd threw a ball at Mohammed Siraj. It is hard to imagine the intention with which it was done and nor did the authorities step up to clarify the matter but from what it looked, it was not an act that could be appreciated in any general circumstance.

The crowd threw a plastic ball at the pacer and when Virat Kohli was shown to be upset by the act, Rishabh Pant came forward to clear the issue. The wicketkeeper-batsman said, “I think somebody threw a ball at Mohammed Siraj. Virat Kohli was upset.”

The batsman then pointed out that chanting anything one wants is still fine but throwing something on fielders is not good for the spirit of cricket.

In the second test, Siraj became one of the reasons why India was able to score the victory. This is not the first time that something like this is happening to the 27-year-old. Earlier this year, during the series against Australia, he was subjected to racial abuse when the crowd at the SCG started calling him names when he was on the field.

This matter got intense in Australia as the authorities had to evict a few spectators from the crowd and the play was halted for a certain duration. The Matter was taken to the upmore by Siraj only after the calling names grew as he was fielding near the boundary.

In England too, during the first test between the two countries, KL Rahul was subjected to a similar treatment. A few spectators in the crowd threw bottle corks at the Indian opener which the batman reflexively threw out of the ground.
