Mithun Chakraborty joins BJP ahead of West Bengal polls but it’s his dialogue that creates uproar

Indian actor and producer, Mithun Chakraborty joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday ahead of a rally led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kolkata. The actor is hugely admired and loved all over the country but especially in West Bengal for his comic timing and dialogue delivery.

For the announcement of his inclusion in the party, he chose to enthusiastically involve the crowd by delivering some of his famous bengali dialogues. One of the dialogues that especially caught people’s attention was the one where the 70-year-old actor called himself a cobra.

“I am a pure cobra. You will be finished in one bite. Now, remember the new slogan — Ek chhobole chhobi (One bite and you will become a photo),” he said, to which the crowd responded with huge excitement.

It took no time for people around the country to observe the dialogue and make fun with it. The social media was soon flooded with memes of Mithun comparing himself to the poisonous snake. Many said that this is a sign of him joining a political party that is as poisonous as the snake.

While some passed political comments, others just lived off a fun moment through the dialogues. #Mithunchakraborty began trending on twitter where people shared posters of his different movies and the characters he played all these years.

The vetran actor was also a member of Rajya Sabha from the Trinamool Congress before joining the central party. The speculations about him joining the party grew when RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat voted him in mid February. Political experts since then have been predicting that ahead of BJP’s show at West Bengal polls, the party is trying to include as many familiar faces as possible.

Chakraborty has a huge fan base in the state and till a very long time was known to have close ties with the current West Bengal chief minister Mamta Banerjee. He has been the face of many dance reality shows in the last few years.
