Mike Pence: Ex-US Vice President To Challenge Trump In 2024

Mike Fence was elected for the US House in 2001. He had become the US Vice President. Now he is going to challenge Trump in the Presidential Poll 2024.

Former US Vice President Mike Pence has filed paperwork to declare his campaign for the 2024 presidential election, setting up a potential challenge to his former boss, Donald Trump.

Pence, who served as the 48th US vice president, is expected to formally launch his bid for the Republican nomination on his 64th birthday, which is Wednesday.

Born into an Irish Catholic family in Indiana in 1959, Pence initially identified as a Democrat and looked up to John F. Kennedy as a role model.

However, during his college years, he underwent a conversion to evangelical Christianity and was influenced by former President Ronald Reagan to join the Republican Party.

Pence has an educational background in law, having obtained a law degree from Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis. He worked as a lawyer and conservative talk show host before entering politics.

Pence was first elected to the US House of Representatives in 2001 and gained a reputation as one of its most conservative members.

In 2016, he was elected as the US vice president and served alongside President Donald Trump from January 2017 to January 2021.

Throughout his tenure, Pence remained a staunch defender of Trump’s policies and agenda.

However, tensions arose between the two in the final days of Trump’s presidency when the former president falsely claimed that Pence had the authority to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

Pence’s refusal to do so led to a violent mob storming the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Recently Pence criticized Trump’s actions and called for new leadership in the upcoming 2024 US presidential election.

By filing paperwork for his own campaign, Pence signals his intention to challenge Trump and seek the Republican nomination.

The 2024 presidential election might be an opportunity for Pence to present himself as an alternative to Trump’s politics and offer a different vision for the Republican Party and the United States.
