The rights and the technology to produce these aircraft were later acquired by India. Initially, these jets were manufactured in Russia.

Why Mig-12 Fighter Aircraft Called Flying Coffin?

The term Flying Coffin was given to the aircraft because of its history of crashes in the Indian Air Force, which has been using it since 1964.

Among the first supersonic fighter planes to go at the highest speed of its era was the 1959-built MiG-21. Due to its speed, this Soviet fighter aircraft greatly alarmed America at the time.

In both the 1971 & 1999 Kargil wars with Pakistan, the MiG-21 played a significant role.
