Microsoft has recently supplemented its AI assistant Copilot with a new friendly voice and web page analysis during browsing. This is one of the first major changes since Mustafa Suleyman took the position of head of Microsoft AI at the company.
The new update, which went live recently, introduces several important enhancements. The voice interaction is improved so Copilot can use verbal feedback such as “cool” and “huh” to appear more attentive in its conversation. They can also discuss web content that users are interacting with and using Copilot in the Microsoft Edge browser. For Copilot Pro subscribers who pay $20 monthly, its new addition, ‘Think Deeper’, provides users with structured ways to make good decisions.
Microsoft has put together what Suleyman describes as an entire army of creative people. But this team involves psychologists, novelists, and comedians who are collaborating to provide Copilot with unique character and manner of speaking.
Suleyman proceeded to share some potential exciting developments for Copilot in the future. It is increasingly possible that the AI assistant will become a part of multiple Microsoft products and, with permission from the user, learn from context within Word docs, the Windows desktop, and gaming systems.

Microsoft has stiff competition in the market for AI assistants, challenging Open AI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini. The firm expects these changes will make Copilot differentiate in the rapidly growing market of AI chatbots.
It comes as no surprise that the assistant employs a mix of Microsoft AI (MAI) models and technology from its ally OpenAI.
Now even Bill Gates runs at these developments. Gates said that Copilot has caught the attention of Gates most especially in dealing with emails.
