Meta, the parent company of Facebook, is set to launch a new social networking platform called Threads, which is aimed at providing users with an alternative to Twitter.
Led by Mark Zuckerberg, the app is scheduled to launch on Thursday, July 6, according to a listing on Apple’s App Store.
Threads was initially discovered on the Google Play store in Europe and later became available on the Apple App Store.
Meta intends to position Threads as a more inclusive and well-managed alternative to address concerns raised by advertisers regarding Twitter’s association with far-right figures.
Threads, currently available for pre-order on the App Store, combines elements from Instagram and Twitter. It aims to bring communities together to discuss various topics, both current and trending, while facilitating connections with favorite creators.
This blend of features from both platforms may appeal to existing Instagram users as well as those seeking a different social media experience.
In recent developments in Twitter, Elon Musk has made changes, including appointing Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO. Under Yaccarino’s leadership, Twitter is grappling with declining advertising revenue and has implemented restrictions on user access, leading to user dissatisfaction.
Elon Musk, who acquired Twitter for $44 billion, disclosed on Twitter that verified accounts initially had limitations on the number of posts they could view, but those limitations have since been increased.
The timing of Threads’ launch could work in Meta’s favor, as Twitter faced backlash for its decision to make TweetDeck, a popular tool, a paid service.
This move sparked widespread user outrage. In response, a user tweeted expressing their desire for everyone to trust the process and Elon Musk.
Meta has announced that their new social media platform Threads is designed to be more inclusive and easier to manage than Twitter.

Threads combines features from Instagram and Twitter, such as the ability to share photos and videos, as well as the ability to have discussions in real time.
Meta hopes that Threads will provide users with an alternative to Twitter that is more welcoming and less controversial.
