Meta Launches Subscription Service Called Meta-Verified

Meta has launched a Twitter-like subscription model named ‘Meta Verified’ (blue ticks for Facebook & Instagram) in New Zealand & Australia at $12 per month.

The California-based technology startup Meta stated that it would be introducing “Meta Verified,” a subscription-based model, to users of Instagram and Facebook worldwide not long after Twitter launched its premium “Blue membership” for users.

Similar to Twitter Blue, Meta will soon give users with a membership that adds additional protection, a blue badge, and instant access to customer support in exchange for a price. The business wants to increase security and credibility on Facebook and Instagram.

“Users now would be able to verify their accounts with a legal identification (Government IDs), and would be provided a blue badge, obtain more impersonation protection, and have direct access to the customer service,” said Mark Zuckerberg, Chief Executive Officer of Meta.

Australia and New Zealand will be the first two nations to offer Meta Verified, with additional nations soon to follow. 

Both of the aforementioned nations would receive the subscription by the end of this week, according to the company’s official announcement.

On the other hand, there have been no formal announcements regarding the launch of this premium membership in India.

The price of the membership has been disclosed by Meta, who has stated that it would cost a whopping $ 11.99 per month for web users and $14.99 per month for iOS users. 

Although the corporation has not provided any information regarding subscription costs in India, it is quite likely that there would be a price difference for Indian customers.

Twitter users, on the other hand, have shared memes, GIFs, and comments while trolling Instagram, Facebook, and other users.

The subscription package for Instagram and Facebook, which will go live later this week, will start at $11.99 per month on the internet or $14.99 per month on Apple’s iOS system and Android. It also provides additional security against impersonation.

After Twitter’s announcement last month that Twitter Blue will cost $11 per month, Meta has entered the world of subscription services.

The messaging app Telegram and Snapchat, both owned by Snap IncBoth introduced paid membership services last year as a new revenue stream.
