Mehendi’s Natural Remedies And Astrological Connection In Hinduism

Mehendi is not just a body art in Hindu tradition, it has an astrological connection to Sanatan Dharma. It’s a symbol deeply rooted in our culture, especially during important festivals like Teej, Diwali, Raksha Bandhan, and Karwachauth.

In Hindu weddings, which are celebrated as grand events, the Bridal Mehendi Ceremony is a key tradition. This custom involves applying mehendi on the bride before her wedding, symbolizing the eternal bond of marriage, believed to last for seven lifetimes.

The practice of applying mehendi has a rich history. It’s said that Goddess Parvati used mehendi to win Lord Shiva’s heart. Since then, it’s been a ritual in Hindu weddings.

Mehendi is more than just for beauty; it’s considered to bring luck and happiness. Its fragrance is even thought to have qualities that attract love.

But mehendi isn’t just about tradition and beauty. It’s also a powerful natural remedy. Hindu weddings, which can span several days, often bring stress and fatigue. Mehendi has cooling properties that help relieve stress, fever, and headaches. That’s why even grooms have a small mehendi design applied.

In Hindu iconography, gods and goddesses are often depicted with mehendi designs. For instance, Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi are shown with specific patterns on their hands, symbolizing divine blessings.

The astrological significance of mehendi is also quite interesting. The red color of mehendi is associated with the planet Mars in astrology. Mars represents both constructive and destructive energies.

However, when used in moderation, the red color can be beneficial. It symbolizes the energy, vibrancy, and prosperity of married life. In Hindu weddings, the bride’s use of red in mehendi, clothing, and other adornments reflects this belief.
