Mamta Banerjee lashes out on BJP, asks them to either step down or withdraw Farm bill

Mamta Banerjee lashes out on BJP: West Bengal chief minister Mamta Banerjee has once again lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party saying that the party practices divisive politics for its personal gains. 

She addressed a rally in West Medinipur where she criticised the ruling party for its behaviour towards the farmers and asked them to either withdraw the farm bill or step down from power. She also extended support for the all-India strike called by farmers on Tuesday. 

The Trinamool Congress is only among the few political parties who have strongly discouraged strikes or bandhs which are carried out by the government but for the first time since coming to power, Banerjee showed her open support to the farmers saying that not as chief minister but she is supporting the farmers as a TMC leader. 

“We never supported bandhs since we came to power because the government cannot support strikes. As a chief minister, I cannot support a bandh. But as a TMC leader, I support the demand of farmers. We are supporting the demands being made by farmers tomorrow. I have not forgotten Singur, Nandigram, and Netai…I am promising full support to farmers,” the TMC leader said. 

The 65-year-old leader said that she will not adhere to the misuse of the BJP even if it means she will have to go to jail. She added. “The BJP government should immediately withdraw the farm laws or step down. It should not continue to remain in power after sacrificing the rights of the farmers.”

The ruling party is trying to build its base in the state of West Bengal which definitely is not going down well with Banerjee. She has become even more furious after Trinamool Congress leader Suvendu Adhikari misses a rally conducted by Banerjee amid speculations of changed loyalties. 

Not just the leader but his entire family was missing from the scene, Suvendu’s father Sisir is an MP from Tamluk while Dibyendu Adhikari is an MP from Kanthi and Soumendu is an MLA from East Midnapore. 

The whole family along with their loyalists have stayed away from the rally. TMC chairperson was visibly upset with tehri absence and without naming anyone, she took a dig at the BJP saying the BJP is using money to knock out the opposition. 

She kept targeting the Modi government saying that the policies that the TMC comes up with are labeled bad but ‘Rafale scam’, PM-cares fund not revealing details is not bad to the BJP. She questioned Dilip Ghosh, BJP leader from West Bengal, for asking details on cyclone Amphan but refrain from revealing other details.
