Malaika Arora’s Father, Anil Arora, Dies by Suicide– Investigation Underway

Actor-model Malaika Arora is mourning the loss of her father, Anil Arora. Anil Arora died by suicide on September 11, 2024. The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death as no suicide note was found at the scene.

Anil Arora was from the Punjabi Hindu community in Fazilka and worked with the Indian Merchant Navy. He was married to a Malayali Christian Joyce Polycarp, and together they had two daughters, Malaika and Amrita. The couple separated when Malaika was just 11 years old and Amrita was 6.

In her past interviews Malaika Arora has openly discussed the impact of her parents’ separation on her upbringing. Reflecting on her childhood, she described it as “tumultuous” but acknowledged the valuable lessons it taught her. In an interview with Grazia India, she stated, “My parents’ separation allowed me to observe my mother through a new and unique lens. I learned a rock-steady work ethic and the value of getting up each morning to do whatever it takes to become fiercely independent.”

In July 2023, Malaika visited her father who had been hospitalized. The family also celebrated Christmas 2022 together.

Malaika Arora previously married to actor Arbaaz Khan, has a son, Arhaan Khan, with him. Her younger sister, Amrita Arora, has been married to businessman Shakeel Ladak since 2009, and they have two sons.
