MakeMyTrip Issues Fake Claims In Delhi During G20 Summit

Delhi Police has refuted a claim made by travel company MakeMyTrip that Delhi will be closed from September 8 to 10 due to the G20 Summit.

The police tweeted a screenshot of the email sent by MakeMyTrip and stated that it is completely untrue. They requested the travel company to retract the email, and MakeMyTrip issued a clarification in response.

The Delhi Police clarified that there will be travel restrictions only in the New Delhi district, and only residents of the area will be allowed to travel. Essential services will remain operational during the G20 Summit.

MakeMyTrip acknowledged the concern and clarified that educational institutions, banks, financial institutions, and most offices will be closed, and movement will be restricted in the New Delhi district.
They also stated that essential services will remain open and bonafide residents will be allowed to travel.

The tweet from Delhi Police gained traction and MakeMyTrip responded by sending a clarification email to its customers.

They explained that their earlier email was meant to inform customers about the closure of educational institutions and most offices, and that movement would be restricted in the New Delhi district. They apologized for any misunderstanding caused by their email.

People on social media reacted to the Delhi Police’s tweet, with some suggesting that MakeMyTrip should be penalized for sharing misleading information. Others appreciated the prompt response from the police.

One user commented that strict action should be taken against anyone spreading confusion regarding the G20 Summit.

India is hosting the G20 Summit, which is a meeting of leaders from 19 countries and the European Union.

The summit will take place in New Delhi on September 9-10. The purpose of the summit is for these leaders to discuss and make decisions on important global issues.

During the summit, schools and government offices in Delhi will be closed from September 8 to September 10.

This is to ensure the safety and security of the participants. However, there will not be a complete lockdown in the city, as some rumors had suggested.

There may be restrictions on the movement of vehicles in certain areas, and people will be allowed to travel for essential reasons.
