maharashtra political crisis 7 ncp nagaland mlas back ajit pawar blow to sharad pawar
All seven of the Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) MLAs in Nagaland have written letters of support for the Ajit Pawar faction, another setback for NCP leader Sharad Pawar.
All seven of the NCP’s MLAs in Nagaland’s northeastern state sent a letter on Thursday morning in support of Ajit Pawar, the state’s deputy chief minister, according to NCP Nagaland President Vanthungo Odyuo.
According to Vanthungo Odyuo, he submitted all the necessary paperwork to the “high command” on Thursday morning.
Ajit Pawar of the NCP and eight other NCP MLAs unexpectedly joined forces with the BJP-Shiv Sena earlier this month. Before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, his political maneuver split the party established by his uncle Sharad Pawar and altered the political dynamics in Maharashtra.
While Sharad Pawar has asserted himself as the party’s leader by exiling several leaders for engaging in “anti-party activities,” Ajit Pawar has garnered support from NCP figures like Praful Patel, Chhagan Bhujbal, and Dilip Walse Patil and declared his faction to be the “real NCP.“

Ajit Pawar’s action is comparable to Eknath Shinde’s splitting of the Shiv Sena into two factions and joining forces with the BJP last year, which allowed him to overthrow the Maha Vikas Aghadi government led by Uddhav Thackeray and secure the position of Chief Minister for himself.
