The Maharashtra government is going to implement the Lokpal Act in the state. The act will set the CM cabinet under the jurisdiction of the Lokayukta.
Maharashtra’s government will implement the Lokpal Act in the State, which will place the chief minister of the State under the control of Lokayukta. All recommendations from a panel headed by Anna Hazare, a social activist, have been accepted.
The recommendation of the Anna Hazare Committee to create a Lokayukta in Maharashtra similar to a Lokpal was approved by a Nagpur cabinet meeting before the assembly session.

“We will ensure that the government is run transparently. “We will eliminate corruption in Maharashtra, that is why we have decided to bring Lokayukta law to the state,” Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde stated to reporters.
Anna Hazare demanded the Lokpal Act for Maharashtra. During their tenure, the Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde cabinet created a committee to make recommendations under Anna Hazare’s leadership.
“During the Maha Vikas Aghadi government (MVA), no action was taken. We expedited the process after we returned to power,” stated Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief minister Davendra Fadnavis.
Lokayukta, an apex legal functionary, is responsible for addressing the grievances of the people in opposition to a state government or its administration.
After a thorough consultation with the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, and the Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, the governor will appoint Lokayukta.
Maharashtra was the first country to establish Lokayuktas through the Maharashtra Lokayuktas Act and Upa-Lokayuktas Act 1971.
The Lokayukta is a five-member team that includes the chief justice of the Supreme Court and part of its judges.
“We are making a new act of Lokpal to fight corruption, and it is the biggest step our government has taken in the last five months,” said the Maharashtra deputy CM Davendra Fadnavis.

Also, many border districts which are demanding to join other bordering states like Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh are provoked by certain political parties.
We have collected all the information regarding the same and will declare it soon”, the deputy CM of the state added.
