Ludhiana court blast: Mastermind detained in Germany

A man belonging to the organization Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) has been detained by authorities in Germany. The SFJ organization is suspected to be responsible for a recent bomb blast in Ludhiana court. The man who has been identified as Jaswinder Singh Multani was arrested in a German city after intelligence inputs by Indian authorities were shared with authorities in Berlin, Germany. Multani is indicated to be the mastermind behind the Ludhiana explosion, based on intelligence.

Two FIRs have been filed against Multani in Punjab. He was picked up by German authorities and is kept under detention, where he is being questioned based on the inputs provides to German authorities in Berlin by Indian authorities through established diplomatic channels. Multani has been arrested five days after a bomb blast occurred at Ludhiana’s court complex on December 23. The blast killed Gagandeep, a policeman who had been dismissed from his services and was allegedly planting the bomb. Two others were also injured in the blast.

During the investigation, the police have recovered evidence showing the bomber was in contact with pro-Khalistani leaders in Pakistan and some Gulf nations. It was while probing deeper that the agencies found that Gagandeep was in contact with Multani. They also found that Multani was responsible for arranging the explosive material that was used in a bomb.

An extensive investigation has been opened in Punjab to investigate the radicalization of people in the state. The people are being radicalized from Pakistan by the leaders of Khalistan.

Multani had come to the limelight earlier this year due to his links to the plot of killing a prominent farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal amid the farmer’s agitation against controversial agriculture laws. In January, a young man called Yogesh from Panipat was arrested in Haryana for hatching a plan to kill farmer leaders Rajewal, Baldev Singh Sirsa, Kuldeep Sandhu, and Jagjeet Singh. Yogesh had informed that through messages he was in constant contact with Multani when he had been given the task to target these farmer leaders.
