Lovely’s resignation arises a new wave of speculation in Congress

It was on 27th April 2024, when Arvinder Singh Lovely, former Delhi Congress chief, resigned from his post but the other members of party are making speculations about him that he did so because he didn’t get the ticket to contest elections this time and he also might join BJP.

Answering to these speculations, Lovely has clarified in a press conference that he is not going to join any other political party. Also, he has resigned only from the post of Delhi Congress chief and not the party. He had to come in front of the media because former Congress MLA Asif Mohammed Khan once stated that BJP might allot the East Delhi seat to Lovely, after replacing Harsh Malhotra, who is already allotted this seat by the party.

Disappointment with Congress-AAP alliance

In the recent press conference, Lovely has also communicated disappointment with the alliance of Congress with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and this is one of the reasons he resigned from his post on Saturday. According to the resignation letter, the Delhi Congress unit was not at all satisfied from the alliance with such a party which was formed in the matters of corruption charges against Congress.

Lovely has mentioned each and every fact & reason very clearly in his resignation letter, sent to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. Along with it, he also highlighted the fact that he didn’t resign in anger from his post. If he had to resign due to his anger, then he wouldn’t have introduced the candidates in the press conference.

Factions in Delhi Congress unit

The current scenario is that due to Lovely’s resignation as Delhi Congress chief, people are commenting that the Delhi Congress unit has been divided into two factions – one, which belongs to the high command of the party and other, which belongs to Lovely.

Several party workers paid a visit at Lovely’s residence, following his resignation after which various kinds of statements are flourishing in the media that during the elections, Lovely is prioritizing his personal disappointments, instead of supporting the party and its decisions. Replying to this statement, Lovely said that it was not at all easy to work for 6-8 months, but he still tried his level best for development of the party. He thinks that due to the alliance with AAP, the party is deteriorating slowly and steadily.

Various questions have been raised on Lovely that he completely declined the system of the party. If he was not happy with the Congress-AAP alliance, then why was he expecting to get the tickets?
