He is the father of the prime accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence. His son, Ashish Mishra is currently in jail in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri case. In a viral video, the minister can be seen pouncing on a news reporter and grabbing his mic. Reportedly, he took the mobile phone of another news reporter when he tried to shoot his video.
He used abusive language and called a Journalist ‘thief’. When a journalist asked his comment on the recent Uttar Pradesh Police SIT probe charging his jailed son Ashish Mishra under IPC sections, he pushed back the journalist. He said, “Don’t ask me stupid questions. Have you lost your mind?”
Journalists are demanding quick action against him. The journalist who suffered due to this incident wrote a letter to the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind. He demanded security to do his duty freely.
Ashish Mishra is among the 13 people arrested in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri killing at Tikonia district in Uttar Pradesh. The SIT said that the violence erupted in Lakhimpur with an intention to kill the farmers and a journalist. Earlier, the FIR had booked him for rational driving resulting in the death of five people in October. Now, murder charges are leveled against him.
Recently, after the SIT called the Lakhimpur Kheri incident a “pre-planned conspiracy”, various opposition parties also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of playing dirty politics. Several opposition parties demanded the immediate removal of Union Minister Ajay Mishra.
