Delhi High Court Suspends Kejriwal’s Bail Following ED’s Urgent Plea

The Delhi High Court has temporarily blocked Arvind Kejriwal’s release on bail after a last-minute petition by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). It became breaking news in the Indian political field because just hours before the Delhi Chief Minister was set to leave Tihar jail. The High Court decided that the trial court’s order granting Mr. Kejriwal bail would not be enforced until the petition was heard.

Additional Solicitor General (ASG) SV Raju who is representing the ED has challenged the decision of the Delhi High Court to grant bail to Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal. He called it “perverse” and cited serious procedural flaws. “The trial court’s order is completely flawed,” Mr. Raju argued before a bench of Justices Sudhir Kumar Jain and Ravinder Dudeja.

“We presented evidence, but it was ignored. Bail can be canceled if relevant facts are not considered or if irrelevant facts are relied upon. The order is totally perverse,” he added in his statement.

Mr. Raju referenced a 2014 Supreme Court ruling to emphasize that bail decisions must be based on sound legal reasoning and a thorough review of all pertinent facts. “The trial court should not have overlooked relevant aspects or relied on irrelevant considerations,” he asserted.

“The court did not hear our arguments properly, did not examine the evidence we provided thoroughly, and dismissed our concerns without due consideration,” Mr. Raju concluded.

After this call many political reactions are emerging. Later reaction came from the party on a press conference where Sanjay Singh addressed the media persons.

Delhi government minister Atishi is going on an indefinite hunger strike so we are waiting for her comment soon.
